Macbook Air 13" Mid 2009..charger doesnt works

My Macbook Air 13" Mid 2009 charger suddenly stopped working....no light on charger when i connect it to macbook.

I did some work on the macbook opened the back case removed the battery while the charger connected and the charger light Greens up.....i then connected the battery back and it started charging the battery(orange light comes up)

so the situation is that whenever i plug the battery in with charger connected it starts charging but if i plug the charger in with battery connected it does nothing.

Iv tried resetting everything SMC and PRAM tried another charger..nothing works.

Anybody with help??

Hi kaz-k,

Thanks for chiming in.

Glad to know you think so, but the link you gave me is for a Macbook Pro, not for a MacBook Air.
Incidentally, I was wrong when I described my MacBook Air as "the first model", it's actually a 2010 Model, made in 2011. The ifixit link is thus https://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Air_11%22_Model_A1370

The battery in my MacBook Air, however, charges just fine when the adapter/charger works. As a matter of fact it was at about 99% when it stopped working the first time, at about 97% the second time. Right now is at 59%.

I also wonder whether it's harmful to use the charger as an adapter most of the time. I use the laptop mostly in bed, otherwise I use my desktops.
